Because Feminism has become the new “F” word, I’ve become an Angry Old Biddy.

I’ve lived half my life – if statistics are to be believed – and things seem to be getting worse for women. Not that they’re getting any better for men, mind you. The so-called Western Civilization is degenerating into a superficial, celebrity-obsessed culture, where the greatest achievements possible are attainment of physical perfection and the act of being seen.

This angers me because I think we owe the world more than this. We owe our children more than this. The human brain is an amazing and fascinating organ; far too large to be limited to the pursuit of some elusive ideal of “hotness” and the IT factor.

The pressure on young girls today is inhumane and is reflected in the alarming rate of eating disorders, self-mutilation and other destructive behaviors that typically signal a need to regain control or to alleviate psychological suffering by replacing it with physical pain.

Expectations of men are only marginally better, but the poor darlings are trapped in a Catch-22 where they are assumed to be neantherdals (witness media targeted to the male demographic – all of it assumes that the only way to get a man’s attention is to mention sex), yet expected to be modern and enlightened individuals, who treat all women like queens and keep their libidos in check.

Is anyone really happy with the state of the world today?

I’m an Angry Old Biddy, alright.

This blog is my manifesto.
